Remebering Opie
I have always tried to keep my blog a lighthearted, fun place to visit, but I must take time out today to remember our precious pug Opie who passed on Monday. We got Opie almost 15 years ago when he was only 8 weeks old. Opie battled diabetes for the last 4 1/2 years and on Sunday night he started to decline, upon taking him to the vet it was discovered that he had several problems that would require immediate surgery, and I just knew in my heart, and he told me with his eyes, that this was one last battle he was not prepared to fight so we let him pass with dignity and strength. These are some of my favorite Opie pics...

Martha, I'm so terribly sorry to hear about sweet little Opie. It saddens me to know he's gone and I know he holds a very special place in your heart. Please know that he is romping happy and healthy at the rainbow bridge.

Unconditional love, their excitement at seeing you even if you've been gone an hour, their warm cuddles, they listen to your woes. Better than a therapist,even family and friends sometimes. Truly a gift. Cherish the memories.
Oh Martha, I am really sorry to hear about Opie. Good for you for recognizing that he was tired and for allowing him to go with dignity. He was a real cutie and I am sure that he will always hold a very special place in your heart.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Opie. I have been reading your blog for some time and I loved seeing those older and wiser faces of your pugs - makes me think about my girls.

Martha, I'm sorry to hear about Opie. I know it's harder to lose a Pug than anything else in the world. Losing a dog is hard enough, but losing a Pug - who isn't really a dog - but a little character in a fur suit, is just the hardest. I'm positive Opie had a good life with you, bless his heart. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. You know how fond I am of Opie... through my blog comments. I have tears in my eyes just thinking of him. I know it was for the best but still makes my heart hurt for you!

Just wanted you to know that Opie has been in my thoughts the past couple of days. I'll miss him, even though I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person. I really feel like I knew him through your blog & scrapbook pages. I'll never forget first seeing him on Dogster, only to later recognize him on 2Peas. What a cool coincidence! I've got Opie to thank for our friendship. I love these fun pictures you posted of him today.

Martha, I am SO sorry to hear about your precious Opie. We recently had to put my childhood doggie to sleep as well...she was just suffering too badly. :( I know your pain and wish there was something I could do...feel free to email me if ou want to talk.
